Being presentable and clean classy outlook on one side;the growing awareness of environmental impacts, organic and greener way of living on the other. These are two things, that most of us today are about. Growing fashion sense and the work profiles creating the need to look presentable on one side and a growing awareness of the depleting resources on the other side. Growing grooming industries on one side and dying animals on the other side.

Having said these, the biggest challenge in front of us today, is how to make these ends meet?

With the growing awareness on the the environmental impacts most of us are aware of our lifestyle choice that's impacts nature. However the question are we taking enough efforts in deciding our lifestyle choices to minimise the environment impact.

Collective small steps make a good start..! As much we can we can start with baby steps like these:

❤️ Upcycling: Fashion trend keeps changing. You may not like that jwellery or a dress you brought a few years back now or you just like to be in trend. So what you so with those? Try to upcycle those. Restyle those clothes and jwellery that sitting unused the way you like it now.

Check out  Namestemagic on Insta to upcycle your jwellery.

Please also pay attention to the prices some stores charge for upcycling. Some business charges big so eventually there is a good chance that we will loose our enthusiasm for upcycling. If you know a local designer or an artist whom you can trust, try exploring the possibilities of upcycling ideas with them first. Learning to upcycle, creating new style statements by self can be fun over the time tooπŸ˜‰.

❤️ Exchanging: there are lot of places available today where you can drop in your closet stuff and get something you like in exchange. Check Exchange room on Insta, if the idea excites you.Lot of e commerce sites like Myntra offers to get your old stuff too, in exchange they provide you with points that you can use to get things for your style. That way you can be assured that the stuff you don use or like anymore will find a new home or be upcycled by the big brands that offers to buy your closet collections.

❤️ Donate: things you have hoarded over time that lie on your cupboards unused, get used to donating them. What you're trying declutter, some one may end up finding treasures from them. To some people what we stock up unused or no longer use, might be a little blessing.

❤️Stop buying: unless you will put them to good use or absolutely necessary. Try as much upcycled fashion as possible, try to find treasures from somebody's junk. If you're investing in something that would last a long while. Lot of us have a tendency to give in to offers, freebies and end up getting a considerably more of something that we may not use longer. Ask yourself again in such cases!

❤️ Support Handloom/handcrafted sustainable fashion: turn to buying handloomed fashion. Turn to handloom clothing over mill mades. Turn to buy fair trade products.

❤️Choose natural fibres over synthetics. Turn to choosing organic cotten, linen, jute and hemp clothing. Materials like nylon though may be cheaper, take a long long time to decompose. Turn to handmade sustainable jwellery choices like terracotta, handmade fair trade jwellery choices. Support local artisans.

❤️Curate capsule wardrobe: minimal with style πŸ˜‰. Look through the wardrobe to create capsule wardrobe.

❤️Care for your fabrics/jewellery - learn to care for the wardrobe you own. Give them a longer life.

I am not leading a πŸ’― sustainable lifestyle yet too but I am trying to get there. I am trying to keep these little things in mind for the fashion choices I make. No one can;but if we could take efforts to consciously and consistently practice such little things, we can contribute to minimising the depletion of our resources and leavy a healthy environment to our generations to come. Together we can create an impact.

If you have more to add I would love to hear! Like minded and enrich conversations are always a pleasure☺️.

Cheers!
